Burning cd on vista????????

I have 2 short sound clips in both mp3 and .wav form, and a song in m4a form. i want to burn a cd, but when i try to drag it (using windows media player) it wont allow me to place it in the ';drag items here to create burn list bit';.

Please help! Do I need to reformat them? How Do I do this. Also, how do you change the language on iTunes? (my sister turn it to french)

Thanks!!!Burning cd on vista????????
windows media player is not that good for burning cd's. anyway since you are making a music cd you need to change all files to the same format. windows media player does not have an option for converting different format files so you either need to download a better burning program or rerip the songs from the original cd using the same format.

press start choose help and support and type bur a cd for information.

to change language follow instructions here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2242Burning cd on vista????????
no wmp, there is an easy way, you can try RZ Audio Converter, it can burn any videos and audios to Audio CD, MP3 CD. such as mp3 to cd, m4a to cd, wav to cd, etc.

Work well, easy to use, you can download it from:

Hope it can help you.

Windows vista Login Problem due to Regional Language setting?

Hi,

I am facing a glitch everytime when I try to login my Laptop installed with Windows vista Home Premium. Recently, I added a Regional Language Keyboard in control panel. After that I hadthe option to switch between EN (English) and TA(Tamil) languages. The Switching option was available in Login screen as well. So, whenever I type the password I need to switch the language to English.

But now, even after removing the Regional Language keyboard through the control panel, the Switch between option is still showing in the Login screen, which I need to change everytime..

Can anyone suggest how to remove that button ?Windows vista Login Problem due to Regional Language setting?
Hmm... I suggest that you make a short cut key to the keyboard.

This meaning, when you have logged in, go back to those regional settings and do these steps:

When you're at the ';Change keyboards...';, click the ';Advanced Key Settings'; at the top.

Here you will see the two keyboards. Click on one and then assign it a keyboard shortcut by clicking the ';Change Key Sequences'; button (below).

Now, every time you want to go to that keyboard, just do the key board shortcut and you're fine.

How to convert a programs language?

Hi All

I have just downloaded a driver for my NEC Aterm WL54AG WarpStar 802.11a/b/g Wireless PCMCIA Wireless Card from: http://121ware.com/product/atermstation/verup/warpstar/wl54ag_win.html (you may need to translate this page with Google or Yahoo translator cause its in Japanese an if you cant read Japanese well then......) . This is the only Driver i Have come across for this card that supports windows vista. The only Problem is i cant understand the language therefore i cant install the driver properly or change the settings. Is there any way to convert the language of the executable to English or some way that vista will automatically change the Japanese words to English?

Sorry if this is a Noob Question!

Thanks For all your help! How to convert a programs language?
Converting the language a program uses for its user interface from outside the program isn't possible. The program would have had to be written with several languages in mind and would have had to provide a method for switching between them.

Sorry.

I want to be able to use Japanese font on Microsoft applications like Word. I have Windows Vista, and I don't know how I should do this. I downloaded Japanese fonts and put them in the Fonts folder, but I don't know what to do now. I want to be able to type in something like ';ku'; (Ignore the quotations) and Word will automatically change it the Japanese character for ';ku'; which is く. Do I have to change the language settings on the whole computer, or something else? Do I even have to get a new keyboard? Computer experts and the like, this question is for you!

How can i change windows vista from german language to english?

I tried posting this question on german yahoo, but no reply. maybe its hard for them to read english like its hard for me german.Control panel how do u write it in German??
Steuerverkleidung, this is Control Panel in German. I was raised in Germany. Changing the language is quite simple, just do this:

On Windows XP, you can set the UI language that the default user on the local machine (or a domain user that doesn't have a profile) will see at first first log on. It is also the UI language that is applied to system services running on local machine.

鈥?Open Regional Options in Contol Panel

    鈥?Click on the Advanced tab

鈥?In ';Default user account settings'; at the bottom of the page, check the box beside ';Apply all settings to the current user account and to the default user profile';Control panel how do u write it in German??
I'm sure that 99% of computer users in Germany would understand what ';control panel'; means. And most probably speak better English than you or I.

But you might try using this site to translate back and forth:

    www.freetranslations.com

It doesn't so well with proper grammar or syntax but it can make things understandable to someone.
Well, send it back to germany for your refund and try to get one here in the U.S.A.
I don't know how to change the language of windows vista, but ';control panel'; is ';Systemsteuerung'; in German (computer language).

    (I'm German - native speaker)

and it should be under ';Standard Digits';, the second last option.

Change it to whichever Numeral System you would like. There is the

    (Arabic, Persian, Thai.....etc)

    For Microsoft Word:

    Go to Tools %26gt;%26gt; Options

    Under ';Complex Script'; Tab, change the ';Numerals'; to ';Hindi';

and you should be able to input the other ';Arabic'; Numbering system

Change User Interface (UI) Language of Microsoft Office Word 2007?

My family is Korean, yet I have absolutely no clue how to read my language.

Apparently when we installed Microsoft Office 2007 on this computer, the language was set to Korean. Unfortunately, this makes it impossible for me to find out how to navigate any Microsoft Office 2007 products.

I'd like to change Microsoft Office's interface language to English. I have no clue where the installation CD for Microsoft Office is, since it's been a while since we've had this product (it hasn't bothered me too much until recently since I now need to read the interface)

    I have Windows Vista.

Thanks in advance!Change User Interface (UI) Language of Microsoft Office Word 2007?
It seems unlikely that you would be able to do this without the original CDs. If you did have the original CDs all you would need to do is uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Office. This would not affect any of your files or documents, only Office's program files. Replacement CDs for Microsoft software can be purchased directly from Microsoft on their website (for a ridiculous fee).

The guys are essentially right; the OS language is set already, although if you are willing to go with alternative software products such as Firefox, OpenOffice, and so on being a German interface is of no issue since that is set with only the stuff that came with Vista. Pay up to turn into English Vista or get used to German interface.

How do I change the language on my computer and how do I hook it up to my internet provider?

My family had a Windows XP computer about two years ago and it had a bad virus. They took it to a Korean repair shop (my family is of that nationality), got it fixed, and stored it away in a safe place until I decided to hook it back up today.

Everything is working fine, but the language is changed to Korean so I have difficulty knowing which program is what. Also, I want to be able to use the internet on it.

My internet provider is Comcast, and we only own one modem that is currently hooked up to the computer I am typing on right now (a Windows Vista). We also have a D-Link router so that my Mom and brother can use their laptops around the house.

My Mom is going to help me with changing the computer back to English, but I need to know what to click on so she can translate.

As for the internet, I do hope I do not need to call Comcast and order another modem because it's a bit pricey, so how should I go about getting internet access on my Windows XP?How do I change the language on my computer and how do I hook it up to my internet provider?
As far as the language, go to Control Panel and click on Regional and Language Options (its an icon of the earth). Change the pulldown menu to English.

As far as your internet, no you wont need a new modem. Ok, so it sounds like your router is wireless and your laptops work fine on them. It sounds like you're saying that the computer you're on now, is hooked up to a wire, correct? Are there other ports in the back of the router to hook up another wire? If so then just hook that to your computer (You need an Ethernet cord). If not, then you need to buy what is called an Ethernet Switch. They are pretty cheap (20.00 for a cheap one which is just fine).

Think of an Ethernet Switch like the brown extension cord. You know how you plug the extension cord in your wall, but you have 3 plugs on the other end? Same principle. Ethernet swiches come with different amount of ports, usually 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. The amount of ports is how many computer you can plug into it (bascially, think of your brown extension cord as a 3 port model, with 3 plugs). So you can buy a small port model for your needs. The way you will hook it up is you will take the cord from your internet modem and plug it into the Uplink port in the back of the ethernet switch. Then plug your two regular computers into any of the other jacks in the back. Voila, they will work instantly. Your Router will handle giving each of the computers the IP#'s.

Oh, there is another device that works almost identical to an ethernet switch. They are called Hubs. You can use one of those too. But I recommend a switch because they are more efficient.

Click this link for pictures and prices of ethernet switch at walmart: http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.

in the control panel go to Regional / Language options and you can change it there - you may need an install disc to complete the changesHow do I change the language settings on my laptop?
No, Microsoft makes each type of language for each type of country. The best you can do is find a English ver and buy it online, or find a dealer who gives a option to choose English as your windows op. system.
Its not possible to change the language after Vista being installed. You will have to do a fresh installation of Vista and that should be English Version not japanese.

Hi that would be a question to ask when you buy the laptop.

when one has the software disk it is possible to set up with dual language use.

that is a facility of the xp and vista programs, like wise the other software packages.

laptop posibilty and a desktop but not likely on a notebook.
    You can load font here:http://www.kwintessential.co.uk/fonts/it , and this is how to do it:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314960 . Arivaderchi! { or something like that}
To change the Menus and Interface of Vista to Italian from English, you need to use the Language pack.

Here is a link on how to do it, but I am afraid Microsoft messed up with this as much as they did with the whole thing of Vista, so it's not too easy to do.

    Eh...i just answered another's question, so i'm gonna lift some parts from there (though i think i didn't answer what her question was about but just...er...beat around the bush. -_-';

    Here goes:

To do that, go control panel, then click on the ';Regional and Language Options folder, and after a window pops up, click the ';tab'; with ';Keyboards and Languages';.

Then click the ';Change Keyboards'; button, and ANOTHER window should pop up.

At this window, you should see the ';Add'; button. Click it.

YET another window will pop up and you'll see a list of languages.

Click ';Chinese (Simplified, PRC)';, and a mini-list of boxes beside your choice of what to download should come out.

Well, you can pick what you want to install, but i recommend checking the the box which writes ';Microsoft pinyin'; (it works by typing pinyin.).

After you're done, click ok. That window will close.

After that window closes, you should see the window with the ';Add'; button. Click ok, and that window, too, will close.

So now you're left with the ';Regional and Language Options'; folder. Click ok (AGAIN), and poof! You're done! ;)

You might need to restart for the thing to work, i think.

Ah well, finally done! xD Hope I was of help! If you STILL have troubles, you can drop me a message at my profile page thing. Good luck!

    Windows Vista, English language?

I have just bought a copy of Windows Vista in China. When I bought it I was told that it had English language support. However, I have installed it and the whole program is in Chinese characters. How would I go about changing the default language to English? Would I need to download support files from Microsoft? Or will it not be possible to change? If not how would I go about removing the program and reverting back to XP?Windows Vista, English language?
Just wondering why u bought it from China. China is well known in making pirated softwares. Since Windows Vista is not yet on stores, that software is just a preview or something that have no much functions. Why not wait til the release comes? Next time be careful. Make a thorough research first before purchasing such thing.Windows Vista, English language?
Windows Vista has not been released yet! The copy you have can only be a pre-release version or a pirated copy.

Release in the U.S.A. is scheduled for January 30TH and at various times throughout the world. Language packs will be available for GENUINE copies of Vista.

I have been testing Vista since Beta2, RC1 and now RC2....can't wait to receive my copy of the final release. I am getting Vista Ultimate:)

To re-install XP you will have to format your hard drive. There is no other way.

If you have your computer set to boot from CD first, turn off your computer and insert the XP CD. Restart and one of your options will be to format, then proceed with installation.

How can I type in a different language on Windows Vista?

Yes, I had gone through the procedure.

I went to control panel, language and regional options, keybords, and other input methods

    I clicked on ';Change keyboards';

    I clicked on ';Add';

    I double clicked on Czech.

    I double clicked on ';keyboard';.

    I checked ';Czech';

    I clicked ';OK';

I clicked ';OK'; in the other window.

For several weeks, all was fine. There was a language tool bar on my task bar, or I could switch between languages using left Alt + Shift.

But when I logged on today, the keyboard short cut did not work. There was no EN icon on my task bar. I helplessly opened the control panel. In the regional and language options I clicked on ';Change keyboards';. Dumbfounded, I stared at the screen. There were still two keyboards, nothing seemed wrong. But my keyboard short cut still doesn't work, and there is no language tool bar on my task bar.

I have been altering some settings and options yesterday, so it is possible that I somehow disabled something.

What's wrong, and how do I fix it?How can I type in a different language on Windows Vista?
not sure what the problem is.... just a guess...

try to right-mouse-click on the main toolbar (bottom of your screen) and under Toolbars, check if the 'Language bar' is selected...or appears as an option...

unchecking the 'Language bar' shouldn't make a difference in terms of availability... I can still switch my keyboards even though the bar is not checked... but if the 'language bar' doesn't show up under the 'toolbar' menu you may want to remove the Czech keyword, restart your computer, add the Czech keyboard again and see if it works...

    I hope this helps...

I assume you mean globally, as in for the entire operating system - you can't, it would need a different language version of Windows installed.
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the language of he laptop unless you have Windows Vista Ultimate, as Microsoft doesn't allow Basic/Home Prem./Business editions to download the Vista Ultimate Language Packs, which are done Via Updates.

How cn i change the language of my laptop frm japanese to english..?

i bought my laptop in japan and it uses windows vista home basic japanese version..i want to change it in english..i did some of the suggestions here just like that of the control panel but it did not work..please help me..How cn i change the language of my laptop frm japanese to english..?
Display Language can only be changed in Vista Ultimate edition. Can't do it on Vista Home Basic.

Only way to have English is to install the English version of Home Basic, for that you need an English Vista home basic DVD. However, you can still use your current Japanese license key (since the key is language independent, only dependent on the edition : i.e. Home basic, Home Premium, Ultimate etc..), therefore don鈥檛 have to actually purchase a new copy, only have to find an English DVD somehow.

I installed vista ultimate edition. i wanna change the language..?

when i installed, it asked my country and all. i put (srilanka) and now everything working well.. but clock and calender and all in my country language... i wanna change that to english? how can i change? please tell someone...I installed vista ultimate edition. i wanna change the language..?
You should have waited until it was legal to put Vista onto a computer that wasn't just for evaluation by major compaies.

But I'd imagine you can change the language settings the same way you did in XP.

I have Vista preinstalled on my laptop & want to change to XP. In SIMPLE easy language...how do I do it?

Im not a computer whizz and computer speak just baffles me, I just really need someone to tell me what software I need and how to get my computer to use XP and not Vista as I have found that Vista won't read files sent to me in emails etc as not compatible. Please help!I have Vista preinstalled on my laptop %26amp; want to change to XP. In SIMPLE easy language...how do I do it?
    1. You are less likely to get infected using Vista than XP

    2. Vista will have a longer product life than XP will.

    3. You have to go through the bother of obtaining an XP product key, and cancelling the Vista one.

    4. Do you have any specific reason to do this? i.e. are you running a piticular program incompatible with Vista?

I seriously doubt that your files are not compatible. Are they zipped? WinRARed? Corrupt? Could be a thousand reasons....

You see where I'm coming from.....I have Vista preinstalled on my laptop %26amp; want to change to XP. In SIMPLE easy language...how do I do it?
    Take a look here.
Firstly I doubt it is the operating system that is the reason you cannot open files sent to you by email, probably they are in a program format which you don't currently have. Vista is a brilliant operating system but if you really want to go backwards and put XP on, then before you do anything, make sure you have the Windows XP installation disk otherwise you will end up uninstalling Vista (and with it all your programs and data) and having nothing.
    Hi,

You can certainly change back to XP as long as you have an XP windows installation disk and are prepared to download all the drivers for your pc.

You will need to backup all your data to another drive or cd / dvd.

The instructions on how to do so are here :-

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.cf

However as it is such a lot of work to downgrade wouldn't it be easier to fix the mail problem?

What mail program are you using?

What format are the attachments in?

Just mail me and I'll try and help.

    Arnak
Buy a copy of xp insert it in your cd drive and read whatever is written carefully a setup menu will come up press install windows xp then just follow the instructions.

Beware though you will lose your data so make a backup before installing.
Install the progam that the sender used to create the attachment and it should open from Outlook Express.

Or you can copy the file to another folder like My Documents or Desktop and open it from there.

    http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/14
    What you'll need....

Windows installation disc and product key.

Driver installation programs for your graphics and sound cards plus any SATA drivers your system requires and the disc from your ISP (Virgin, BT etc.) to enable internet connection.

Most systems are set to boot from CD/DVD by default. To check yours, on boot up, keep tapping either F2, Esc or Del (depending on your system) to get to the BIOS setup. Check in the boot order that the CD/DVD is the first boot device. Place the Win disc in then save and exit.

You might be asked to 'Press any key to boot from CD', do so. If not, restart with the CD in.

Follow the prompts to format the existing Windows installation and install the new version.

Somewhere along the way, you'll be prompted to hit F8 to agree with the terms, enter the regional details and the product key.

The computer may restart a couple of times, but leave the disc in.

Once the installation is finished, you'll be asked to activate Windows.

Choose the 'Activate by phone' option (you'll need the group of numbers on screen and a pen and paper to write down the activation code to enter).

When you've activated, load your drivers/ISP get some anti-virus and run Windows update, You're done!
if you have the vista to XP DOWNGRADE disk just install that and follow instuctions.

if you only have a XP disk you need to reformat the drive then install from scratch!!
backup your stuff to an external hard drive, then pop in the windows xp DVD and reboot your machine. the instructions which follow are simple and very clear....good luck
If you are real dummy then leave this task to someone who is familliar with windows installation process. The best thing for you will be to contact the venture from which you have bought your laptop.

or if you really wan to do it yourself than used a windows xp Dark Edition setup disk

put the cd in the drive then restart

    choose boot from cd

    the set up will run

    you just follow the instruction

note: when you change your OS from vista to xp most of your drivers will not be working. Commonly sound will not be working, graphic will not function properly

    Microsoft word

Windows vista ultimateHow do i change the dictionary language to Spanish for Microsoft word spell check?
You didn't mention the version of Word you are using but for Microsoft Word 2003 it involves two steps:

Step 1: Find the ';Microsoft Office Tools'; folder in your Programs list. If you made the installation by default it should be located in:

Start -%26gt; All Programs -%26gt; Microsoft Office -%26gt; Microsoft Office Tools

And from there open ';Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings'; and from that window add ';Spanish'; to the list of languages. If you have Office applications open at this time, you will have close them to apply the changes.

Step 2: Now when using Word you must have notice the language you are using in the task bar of Word (the one at the bottom). To switch to Spanish, you need to:

Tools --%26gt; Language --%26gt; Set Language

And from there select the appropiate Spanish version you need.

As an additional note, if you are using two languages already in Windows (you can check this in the Windows Language Bar) any time you switch languages, Word will automatically follow so that you don't have to set the language every time.

    Hope this helps!

You can call Microsoft (if you live in USA) to get the German version for a fee of course. I do not think they sell Windows in other languages here. It is a special order item. You can check with your local microsoft dealer. Probably they can help you.

How can I change the default setup language during installment of any software or program?

I live in Japan and bought a notebook with Windows Vista Home premium Japanese. I later upgraded it to wv ultimate just to be able to change the language to english. However, although the os I am using is in English now, whenever I install a program or software supporting multilanguage, it picks Japanese and the program installs its Japanese version through a Japanese install wizard. I am really tired of it and tried to change some language settings from control panel and it didnt work. Language change....Help!!?

I speak english but live in germany.... when i go to some sites like google, they go into german.... i change it to english, but the next time i visit it, it is still german.... some programs that i download also automatically install in german and the language cannot be changed.... i changed all languages in the control panel to English US. did i miss something that i had to change there??.... is there some other place i need to change the languages in??

also in the top right corner of internet explorer, the search bar always takes me to the google.de (germany) search, how do i change this??

    I have vista.

    Thanks a lot!!Language change....Help!!?
Since these sites are determining the language to use from your internet location, there's not much you can do about it. You're connecting with a German IP address, so they're guessing that you want a German site. Theyt should be giving you the option to change that, but they aren't. Since you can't rewrite the sites, you can't fix the problem.

How to change the language on a notebook computer?

Apparently, the language is all in french on a Vista os and since I don't understand a word of French, how can it be turned back to English? How to change the language on a notebook computer?
And you got this computer from?

If the OS was installed in French and you just bought the puter, why do not you replace it?

For the most part, each copy of Vista comes in one distinct language. (Exceptions, however, do exist, such as in India where there are multiple dominant languages.) If you wish to change the language you must download a Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI). Unfortunately such is only supported by Vista Enterprise and Vista Ultimate, so as a Home Premium user there is nothing you can really do unless you are willing to either upgrade to Ultimate or purchase an English copy.

Even if you can change the language, I am afraid some programs will still display in French.

You can do 2 things here, you could try to do a system restore (which I do not think is possible because you and I do not speak French) or download and run this program, once you run it, follow the on screen instructions, it claims to install different languages on vista OS even the not supported ones, I have not tried the program by myself but a lot of people praises it so it must be good. Is free also. Just be sure you download the right version for your vista.

How do I change the language in Microsoft Word?

I'm running Vista. Please help! How do I change the language in Microsoft Word?
This is a checklist of things that have to be set to do spell checking.

First, in any version of Word, the proofing tools for the appropriate language have to be installed, usually from the Office CD. The English version of Office also has the French and Spanish proofing tools. Others can be purchased separately.

In Word versions prior to Word 2007:

    1. Click the Tools-%26gt;Options menu item.

    2. Click the Spelling and Grammar tab.

    3. Check the Check spelling as you type checkbox.

    4. Check the Check grammar as you type checkbox.

    5. Check the Check grammar with spelling checkbox.

    6. Uncheck the Hide spelling errors in this document checkbox.

    7. Uncheck the Hide grammar errors in this document checkbox.

    8. Click OK.

And to make sure spell checking isn鈥檛 turned off for any section of the document:

    1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

    2. Click the Tools-%26gt;Language-%26gt;Set Language menu item.

    3. Uncheck Do Not Check Spelling Or Grammar.

    4. Click the Default button. (To make this change permanent.)

    5. Click Yes in the message box.

    6. Click OK.

    In Word 2007

    1. Click the Office button in the upper-left corner.

    2. Click the Word Options button.

    3. Click the Proofing tab.

    4. Check Check Spelling As You Type.

    5. Check Mark Grammar Errors As You Type.

    6. Check Check Grammar With Spelling. Note the Settings button. With this, you can select or deselect many nit-picking checks.

    7. Make sure Hide Spelling Errors In This Document is UNchecked.

    8. Make sure Hide Grammar Errors In This Document is UNchecked.

    9. Click OK.

And to make sure spell checking isn鈥檛 turned off for any section of the document:

    1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

    2. Click the Review tab on the Ribbon.

    3. In the Proofing section, click Set Language.

    4. Uncheck Do Not Check Spelling Or Grammar.

    5. Click the Default button. (To make this change permanent.)

    6. Click Yes in the message box.

    7. Click OK.

How to change the language of my Photoshop?

My computer is a Vista with the preset language as Finnish. So when I install Photoshop CS, it automatically installs in Finnish even though I chose English in the installation (so it was probably for the installing only). I'd prefer having it in English because I don't understand a crap about the Finnish tooltips because their translation is utterly worthless so it's hard for me to use all the functions. How to change the language of my Photoshop?
Before you do anything, make sure you exit Photoshop! Otherwise you may experience problems.

The second step is to open the Photoshop program folder. On Windows, this is ';C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop '; by default. If you installed the application with the Creative Suite or if you customized the installation path, this may vary, though.

If you are on a Macintosh (lucky you :), I think you somehow need to open the application Package to access the files. I don't know any details of how to do this, and I am not even sure this method works on a Mac, as I don't have access to one. I'm afraid you are on your own there. Feel free to post your results here.

Ok, now look into the ';Required'; subfolder. There you will find two files, one named ';tw10428.dat';, and one named ';tw12508.dat';. Depending on you Photoshop version, you may have only one of these. These files contain the localized text strings (i.e. the translations of the menu items and dialog boxes and all that stuff) for your Photoshop.

The trick is to rename these files, so Photoshop won't be able to access them. I advise you to append ';.bak'; (for backup) to the file name, so you can change back later if you want to. I would recommend against deleting them.

If you are on a Photoshop version without Activation, you are done now. Start Photoshop the way you usually do, and the interface should appear in vintage US English.

If you are using newer version of Photoshop which has the the beloved Activation feature (the CS and CS2 versions if I remember correctly), you need to perform an additional step. If you skip this, Photoshop won't start because the activation wizard thinks it's being fooled.

In the main Photoshop application folder, go to the ';Activation'; subfolder. There you will find another subfolder named with your language acronym (eg. ';de_DE'; in the German version). Rename this folder to ';en_US';. Now you can start Photoshop, and the interface language has changed.

If you want to switch back to your native version, just rename the files and folder as the were before.

If anything went wrong (I told you you are doing this at your own risk!), don't despair, a re-install of the application should fix your problems.

How do i change my laptop language from French to English?

    Hi All,

I have a hp laptop that runs vista and is in French, I want to change the language to English but the control panel option doesn't change the language. Can someone please tell me hot to go about making the changes. RegardsHow do i change my laptop language from French to English?
You can get an English MUI (multi user interface) pack. Once installed, you can change your Vista language over to English. Note that you can't get this for Vista Basic, you'll have to purchase Enterprise or Ultimate because these are the only editions that allow you to install MUI packs.

There are two types of language files - and both are partial but either may be what you're looking for. MUI available only in Vista Ultimate and Enterprise are the most extensive--but LIP are available for any edition of Vista. I'm not sure which Vista you have - but you may want to look into these:

How do I get additional language files?

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/How-do-I-get-additional-language-files

If you have Enterprise or Ultimate you can look into MUI. But even if you

don't, you can download the LIP files, and see if they will do the job for

you. LOL I don't know how fluent you might be in Japanese either.

LIP files can be downloaded from here:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=66923

    http://www.microsoft.com/unlimitedpotential/programs/llp.mspx

';Because not all of the user interface is translated, LIPs require at least one parent language. The parts of the user interface that are not translated into the LIP language are displayed in the parent language. When you download a LIP, you are given the parent language requirements for that

    language. The parent language pack needs to be installed before the LIP can be installed.';

If you do try either of them, let me know how they work for you.

YOU CAN TRY ALSO: http://froggie.sk/How do i change my laptop language from French to English?
If you bought your pc with the windows version: ';OEM'; it will use only that specific language, no other way. To change the language you have to buy from microsoft the language package it is not for free. Why it is like this : because OEM versions are cheap and only installed the principals the extra's you have to pay more for it. To know about you have the OEM or not: click on the combination buttons: the windows button + break button, all under in the popped up window you find your license number and also see 'OEM'. Then it is not possible to change the language without paying for it.
I thought that was particulary easy to do until now when I actually tried to change my language from English to French.

Looking at the MS website and their documentation on this (I found it for Win 7, but it should work almost in a similar fashion in Vista), you need to install LIP.

For details on it, visit the source I've given you. That LIP will allow you to install additional languages for your computer. I'm headed to get LIP myself. Look at the source, the link is there!
I don't think you can, once you have chosen a language for the computer it is final , the only way would to be reformat and get a new Windows disc

    Did you try this:

    1. Open Regional and Language Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Regional and Language Options.

    2. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.

    3. Under Display language, choose a language from the list, and then click OK.

    Note:

If you don't see the list of display languages, you need to install additional language files first.

Before you can install a display language, you need access to the language files. These files are usually on your Windows DVD or they can be downloaded from the web.

To install a Language Interface Pack (LIP), double-click the file to open the setup program.

Windows Vista LIPs provide a translated version of the most widely used areas of the user interface. LIPs are freely available to download, and most LIPs can be installed and used on any edition of Windows Vista.

I already know Control Panel %26gt; Regional Settings..

HOWEVER, the problem is that everything is in damn Chinese, so I can't read any of the options in the control panel and in the regional settings once i get there.

Could anyone give me specific Vista instructions on how to change the language to English??? ThanksHow do I specifically change the computer's language from Chinese to English?
    Hello

Yes. Start search for 'Languages' and 'Region and Language options'

control panel will show up. In Region and Language options, select the

'Keyboards and Languages' tab. Here you can install/uninstall different

    languages.

If you have Vista Ultimate, you can download different language packs

    easily through Windows Update.

With Windows Vista Ultimate, you can have multiple language packs

installed at a time so you can easily switch back/forth based on user

accounts or the region and languages options control panel. Good luck.
