How do I change the language in Microsoft Word?

I'm trying to type in spanish, and am having difficulting running spell check on the document. I highlight the doc, then click on the spell check, change the language to Spanish (Traditional) and nothing happens.

I'm running Vista. Please help!How do I change the language in Microsoft Word?
This is a checklist of things that have to be set to do spell checking.



First, in any version of Word, the proofing tools for the appropriate language have to be installed, usually from the Office CD. The English version of Office also has the French and Spanish proofing tools. Others can be purchased separately.



In Word versions prior to Word 2007:



1. Click the Tools-%26gt;Options menu item.

2. Click the Spelling and Grammar tab.

3. Check the Check spelling as you type checkbox.

4. Check the Check grammar as you type checkbox.

5. Check the Check grammar with spelling checkbox.

6. Uncheck the Hide spelling errors in this document checkbox.

7. Uncheck the Hide grammar errors in this document checkbox.

8. Click OK.



And to make sure spell checking isn鈥檛 turned off for any section of the document:



1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

2. Click the Tools-%26gt;Language-%26gt;Set Language menu item.

3. Uncheck Do Not Check Spelling Or Grammar.

4. Click the Default button. (To make this change permanent.)

5. Click Yes in the message box.

6. Click OK.





In Word 2007



1. Click the Office button in the upper-left corner.

2. Click the Word Options button.

3. Click the Proofing tab.

4. Check Check Spelling As You Type.

5. Check Mark Grammar Errors As You Type.

6. Check Check Grammar With Spelling. Note the Settings button. With this, you can select or deselect many nit-picking checks.

7. Make sure Hide Spelling Errors In This Document is UNchecked.

8. Make sure Hide Grammar Errors In This Document is UNchecked.

9. Click OK.



And to make sure spell checking isn鈥檛 turned off for any section of the document:



1. Press CTRL/A to select the entire document.

2. Click the Review tab on the Ribbon.

3. In the Proofing section, click Set Language.

4. Uncheck Do Not Check Spelling Or Grammar.

5. Click the Default button. (To make this change permanent.)

6. Click Yes in the message box.

7. Click OK.
